(November 2000 - Guana Cay facility is not currently active due to destruction of base resort facility) |
From our Marsh Harbour base in Boat Harbour at the Abaco Beach Resort, or our satellite facility on Guana Cay, Abaco Dive Centre is just minutes from the undersea wonders of two government protected underwater preserves and some of the finest, most UNspoiled (and UNcrowded) shallow- and deep-water reef, Blue Hole and Wall diving opportunities in this hemisphere. From the "just-starting-out" novice to the seasoned deepwater diver, Abaco Dive Centre's two locations are convenient to the Abacos' most popular guest accommodations as well as the most exciting dive (and snorkel) spots in the Central and Southern Abaco islands.
If you scuba dive or snorkel off Guana Cay, the visibility of our turquoise seas will astound you. You can scuba dive or snorkel on a coral reef which rises from a depth of about 40 feet to within inches of the surface. Guana Beach Resort offers extensive Dive and Snorkel opportunities on one of the world's largest barrier reefs, much of which remains uncharted and unexplored.
The Great Abaco Barrier Reef consists of large, branching formations of Elkhorn Coral with medium to large Brain and Star Coral tumbling down the inside of the barrier. The formations are riddled with fissures providing meandering trails and caves as well as isolated Coral Gardens. A few of the more well known sites include: The Blue Hole, Guana Gardens, The Tower, The Catacombs, Grouper Alley and Twin Sisters.
