I'VE GOTTEN TO MARSH HARBOUR - Now What? When you arrive at Marsh Harbour airport - take a taxi to the Ferry Dock (about $12 for two people). Then take the Ferry to Hope Town. (Click for Ferry Schedule). There are often other people waiting and would share a charter with you. Charters are normally $50 each or more than 5 people $10 per person - charters can be delivered directly to the Abaco Inn dock. Otherwise ask the captain to call the Abaco Inn and we will pick you up in Hope Town. For more details on the ferry schedules see the Albury's Ferry page.
Climate: In the winter we are warmed by the Gulf Stream and in the summer cooled by the trade winds, giving us a temperate climate.
WHAT SORT OF CLOTHES DO WE WEAR?
Dress:
Our dress is casual and we suggest that you pack lightly. Bring your favourite clothing, including something warm for the occasional cool evening. (remember airlines charge for extra baggage).
WHAT CAN WE DO WHEN WE GET THERE?
Boating:
For 20 miles north and south of the Inn, there are scores of uninhabited islands and deserted beaches, all waiting to be explored and safely accessible by small boats. We do suggest that you rent a boat for your stay. There are many boat rental companies that are highly recommended. If interested, we can help you find one that suits your needs. Docking for your boat is FREE at the Abaco Inn.
Fishing:
Deepsea, reef and bone fishing are all excellent. The Abaco Inn can arrange either a half or a full day's bonefishing with Bonefish Dundee, the 1997 Abaco Champion.
SCUBA & Snorkeling:
There are guides who will escort you on diving and snorkeling trips. Dave's Dive Shop and Froggies Adventures are both based on Elbow Cay. The trips will take you to either Sandy Cay Reef or Fowl Cay Reefs. Both are underwater National Parks. They are teeming with live coral and many fish. Another popular spot is the USS Adirondack, a large navy gunboat which sank of the Man O War Cay during the Civil War.
Miscellaneous mask, snorkels flippers and bicycles are provided FREE for each guest.
CAN WE USE OUR ELECTRIC HAIRDRYERS ETC?
Our electricity is standard US, 115 vac 60 hz.
WHAT TYPE OF IDENTIFICATION DO WE NEED?
As of January 2007, Bahamas (and US) immigration requires a valid Passport. No exceptions!
We have Oceanside rooms which are hidden on the ridge among the sand dunes and tropical foliage. Our Harbourside rooms just down the hill face the Sea of Abaco through Australian pines and palm trees. All our rooms have Queensize beds, some with an additional single or bunk beds. All the rooms have air-conditioning and ceiling fans.
The new Villas have a bedroom with a queensize bed, living room and kitchenette. They are situated so that you will see a spectacular view of the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean and sunset over White Sound Bay.
There are three white sand beaches, two on the ocean and one on the bay. A saltwater swimming pool carved out of the black coral only a few steps away from every room.
No, we do not have TV's in the rooms, but we do have a TV in the bar for weather, news and sporting events.
