>> Green Turtle Cay according to Julius Wilensky (author of the internationally recognized "Cruising Guide To The Abacos") ...
"Green Turtle's outer beach is tremendous! (Where the offshore reef meets the beach) we ... swam across the reef where the snorkeling was excellent ... best of the entire (Abacos) cruise."
In other words, snorkeling (and SCUBA) is exceptional along the entire length of Green Turtle's barrier reef.
>> The Abacos according to Julius Wilensky ...
"I've explored the Biminis, the Exumas, the Berry Islands ... and the Abacos wins hands down for variety and interest ashore; excellent harbors; interesting and hospitable settlements and excellent beaches. (The Abacos waters) are among the world's clearest and most colorful, (and) Abaco fishing equals that of Bimini, which is among the best anywhere."

Subject: Great time in the AbacosWe had a great time in the Abacos!!
All was quiet! The weather was good--hot, humid with a great breeze! Our friends came from N. Palm Beach in 29 ft. boat, so we island-hopped to Elbow, Great Guana (went to Nippers for lunch--great place!), Treasure, (nice Marina & enjoyed good food & drinks at the Tipsy Seagull) great beach too! also Man O' War--we were there on Sunday & the place was a ghost town. The "power" was off on for 2 days & nites, but we were lucky & had it at night, so we slept cool. It was windy & we did not get to Green Turtle--next time! We snorkeled Mermaid Reef near Marsh Harbour Marina & had a good lunch at the Jib Room--we were the only ones there! Rented car & drove to Little Harbor & found Pete's Pub & the Johnson Gallery.
What a neat place!! Aubrey fixed us the best hamburgers we'd ever had. A nice change from "conch". Found all residents to be very nice! The coconut & raisin bread from the bakery was wonderful! We stopped on the way to the airport & brought some home! The airport is "unique"--after a 5 minute shower, it's a steamy place--NO AC & don't think I saw a fan. We took US Airways all the way from Newport News Williamsburg, VA. Oh, we also went to Nettie's bonefish camp. 3 people from MD had just come in for a few days. Nettie wanted us to "stay" for supper (wild boar, etc), but we decided not too--pretty pricey. A cup of tea was $3. Our friends from N. Palm have bone fished with a guide from Green Turtle, I think, & caught some nice ones. We've been home a month today. Thanks for your help & info.Best wishes, J

Subject: Green Turtle CayThanks for your (information) on GTC - we just got back from there and it was easily the best trip we have had to the Islands - it was absolutely perfect for our taste - the quiet seclusion of (our rental accommodation) was ideal - probably saw a total of 5 other people on the beach the entire week - lots of sun - great snorkeling - an ideal getaway for us - the proximity to town was perfect, a comfortable walk into town for dinner and a relaxing walk home afterward - enjoyed the New Plymouth Inn for dinner (also would add the Blue Bee Bar to your list of places not to miss just for the experience).
Again - thanks for your information - TS
