| Welcome To The GREEN TURTLE CLUB's ENTERTAINMENT CENTER |
|
Entertainment The Green Turtle Club is probably one of the very few places in the entire world to have an employee whose official title (and job description) is "Ambassador of Fun". Louie Dames, an Abaconian known and respected throughout the islands, is in charge of all things having to do with Fun. It has been often said that Louie's good spirit and sense of humor is so infectuous that Queen Elizabeth's portrait, which adorns the Green Turtle Pub's many "stuck-to-the-wall" Pound notes, has actually been see to smile when Louie is nearby. The Club speciality, the Tipsy Turtle Rum Punch, was chosen by Esquire Magazine as the best rum punch in all the Caribbean. On Monday nights the club features the smooth Bahamain sounds of the legendary Abaconian musician Estin Sawyer. On Saturday nights Jammin Jan, the Bonnie Raitt of the Bahamas
(right side of top pictures), performs a wide variety of music
that ranges from foot ON Wednesday nights The Club plays host to "the number one band in the nation", The Gully Roosters Band. The "Roosters" perform under the stars and guarantee to have you dancing with original songs and the latest hits from the Caribbean and Bahamas. On weekends they perform at their own club, The Roosters Rest, in New Plymouth. Managers note: due to seasons, availabilities and other Bahamian factors beyond our control, the entertainment schedule is subject to change ... but not much! The yacht club pub, decorated with club burgees left by visiting yachtsman from around the world, is headquarters for most of the Green Turtle Club's social activities. The walls have been covered in dollar bills, a tradition which was started over 30 years ago when visiting sailors and pilots would hang signed bills as a token for future travellers to have a drink on them. And, talking about drinks, The Pub's decidedly non-British speciality, the Tipsy Turtle Rum Punch, was chosen by Esquire Magazine as the best rum punch in all the Caribbean. |
