100 Jamz is on the air in Abaco!

FM radio station 100 Jamz began broadcasting on Abaco on December 21. The station is giving Abaco the same programming as they broadcast in Nassau. Their programming is beamed to a satellite in space which is then forwarded to a receiving antenna in Marsh Harbour. The radio beams are then rebroadcast from a tower near the late Dr. Gottlieb's home for listeners in central Abaco. They can turn their dials to 100.1 on the FM band. It is a 1000- watt station.

At this time the programming is the same as the station in Nassau. They expect to have some advertising geared for the Family Islands and they may do on-site broadcasting later. A similar antenna and broadcasting tower will be located in Cooper's Town which will serve northern Abaco.

Those listeners will locate the station at 100.5 on the dial. The Cooper's Town FM station will be operational by the end of January. They will then install equipment on Eleuthera. 100 Jamz is owned and operated by the Nassau Tribune in Nassau and is fulfilling its obligation to broadcast to the Family Islands as well as Nassau.
