New Plymouth (click HERE for New Plymouth map - 94k download) is a quaint, pastel, New England-style settlement located at the southern end of the island.  Here you will find many conveniences and attractions to make your visit comfortable and enjoyable.  There are grocery stores, gift shops, restaurants, an art gallery, an ice cream shop and several places to enjoy an island drink.  The town has a post office and a library with a paperback book exchange and internet service.

The village also boasts several historic offerings which include a 200 year old cemetery, the island's original jail, the Albert Lowe Museum (which features antique artifacts, displays, old photographs, model ships and original oil paintings depicting the lives of the Loyalist which originally settle on the island), the Loyalist Memorial Sculpture Garden (bronze busts of Bahamian Settlers), Verts Model Ship Shop (which displays hand-carved model schooners by Vertrum Lowe), and the Lowe Art Gallery (located just outside the village in Black Sound) which features original oil paintings by Alton Roland Lowe as well as bronze sculptures by James Mastin, who created the bronze castings in the Loyalist Memorial Sculpture Garden.

White Sound is approximately 3 miles from New Plymouth.  The Green Turtle Club and Bluff House are located in White Sound.  Both have excellent restaurants.

Abaco offers the third largest barrier reef in the world and is waiting to be explored with the professionals at Brendal's Dive Center.  They offer many kinds of dive/snorkeling trips as well as scuba instruction and certification. Green Turtle Cay also boasts world-class bonefishing and deep-sea fishing.

There are also many uninhabited islands around Green Turtle Cay and the only way to get to these islands is by renting a boat.  Please click HERE for further information on Reef Rentals for your boat rental needs.
